FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAS CRUCES, NM — Families are invited to attend a Free Car Seat Giveaway & Safety Clinic on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 12:00–2:00 PM, hosted at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (2640 El Paseo Rd.).
Registration is required: bit.ly/LCcarseat2026
At this event, Trained Child Passenger Safety Technicians will inspect existing seats, assist with proper installation, and ensure children are riding safely and in accordance with New Mexico child restraint laws. Families whose children’s car seats or booster seats are expired, damaged, recalled, or no longer the right fit may be eligible to receive a new car seat at no cost, while supplies last. In addition to car seat services, families can enjoy free resources and books provided by community partners.
While this clinic serves as the hands-on conclusion of a Child Passenger Safety Technician training, the primary focus of the event is to serve families and help ensure children in the community are traveling safely.
To receive a replacement seat, both the child and the current car seat must be present.
This event is made possible through collaboration with the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department, and Safer New Mexico Now, working together to support child passenger safety across Southern New Mexico.
