EdTech Project Group
EdTech is digital products provided by technology companies to individuals, schools, and school districts. They have a wide range of purposes and functions, generally without being thoroughly evaluated for safety and effectiveness.
School districts in Dona Ana are using EdTech platforms like Amira and i-Ready. Teachers, students, and parents around New Mexico, the country, and the world are pushing back. Sweden, among other countries, has completely removed EdTech from their schools, calling EdTech “a failed experiment”. There are several active lawsuits against EdTech companies across the country.
EdTech = big tech in schools.
The Kinder-Career Coalition has identified EdTech as problematic and a misguided use of education funding. Time spent on EdTech products in our schools removes valuable teacher-led learning and is shown to be detrimental to our students.
